We get a lot of calls about buffering / no streams / no connection issues, and over the past year we have come to realize that there seems to be a few issues out there that you the customer are dealing with.
We have learned a lot over the past year, I wish I knew a few years ago what I know now, I could have saved a lot of money and frustration. A little background on us, there was a time a few years back that we had to have 2 different internet providers in our house at the same time, yes we are geeks, lets just say that this was a very expensive option but the only one that worked for us for those years. Once we had the option to switch over to the Fiber Op system we naturally jumped at the idea, faster service, cheaper than paying 2 bills, or so we thought.
The story takes a page out of the old fable of "the emperor's new cloths" we were ecstatic to have " the fastest network possible" we actually believed we were getting amazing speeds based on the promotion, however when you live with teenagers who are gamers the truth soon becomes clear, or it should have become clear. Everyday was a constant complaint that "our internet is crap" "this sucks" ... to which i have to confess, my typical response was "we have the best available" or "what do you want me to do? I'm paying for the best that's out there" Eventually I had the ISP come in and take a look, they changed out our modem not once but 5 separate times, always putting in the same as was there previously. Each time the same results, no change, well maybe it may have got a little worse ...
Then the overages for our cel phone data start to roll in, we do not have a big house and you would have thought that there would have been no issue providing coverage to the rooms, so to help out we purchased an in line extender. Another waste of money, i'll explain it like this, if you have a very small amount of water at your tap nothing you can put in line is going to make more water, its the same for internet data, if its low at the source nothing you can add is going to make more of it. So after more calls and a few more tech visits, we finally started to get somewhere, first thing they did was change out the modem AGAIN, this time they put in a different model, the tech (non Bell) said it was a known issue that the modem was an issue and that they simply swap them out with the new version.
The speeds were so much better but suddenly the veil was lifted on what we were supposed to be getting, things went well for a bit but then things slowed down again, back with the techs, this time they determined the breakout box that brings the fiber signal into the house and then converts it to Cat5 was not compatible with the new modem. The module was changed out and for the first time in 4 years I had finally seen speeds that were close to what I had been paying for. Finally quiet, no more slow speeds, 940+ Mbps better be enough. I cringe when I think of all the trouble we went through trying to get this installed.
With that being said I encourage you to check out www.speedtest.net and if your speeds are not what you are expecting, contact your ISP and have them check out your service.
I recommend unplugging your modem once a week, this will reboot the internal computer inside the modem, freeing up anything that may be slowing down your internet speed.
I hope this helps, I know how frustrating it is to suffer through the lag, the disconnects, the disappointment of not getting what you pay for.
If your android unit is experiencing issue this is one of the first things we ask that you try, I know you are paying for "Good Internet" but I also understand we sometimes do not get what we pay for. #NLANDROIDTV Team
When contacting us for service in order to help us help you, we request that you perform the following tests.
1) Open Kodi and make sure you are running the latest version of the Tiger Build. The # in green under maintenance is the build you are running, check on the Facebook page to confirm that this build number is the current build. If not follow the instructions provided on Facebook and update the build to the current build. It is very possible that the new build update may have resolved your issue. Try running the system and confirm the issue is not corrected
.
2) Make note of the unit you have purchased, this will either be found on the bottom of the unit or on the top, Eg, M8S, M9 Plus …
3) Open quick support and record your ID # (quick support will be located in the favorites bar or inside the apps section on the main android page) install any items that QS requests. If you do not get an ID # this is an indication that your unit is not online, or your internet has issues. First unplug the internet modem provided by your provider, after 30 seconds power the modem back on. Check to see if the ID is now present. We can help diagnose issues with your internet however we cannot correct these issues, internet coverage and speed issues will have to be corrected by your internet provider.
4) Download and run the Speed test by Ookla, this will require you to log into the play store gmail account required, the link for the speed test ishttps://play.google.com/store/apps/details…
5) If after performing the steps above, you are still having issues please contact us on Facebook via the message option, or give us a call at 743-0430. #NLANDROIDTV Team
